CRU’s Base & Battery Metals Business Unit is currently seeking a graduate or early career professional to join its Copper & Zinc Markets team. The role will have a primary focus on:

 

  • Building CRU’s short and long-term views on the market outlooks for copper & zinc, with a primary focus on North America. This will be created using your own primary research, but also working across the business to pull together intelligence developed by colleagues.
  • Expanding CRU’s profile and industry network across the North American region through direct engagement with clients and other sectoral stakeholders; and by actively promoting content in the public arena by attending conferences, connecting with industry, media, and governmental organisations, as well as undertaking site visits.
  • Contributing to written reports, presentations, market-leading insights, and webinar content, across the full suite of the Copper & Zinc team’s products.
  • Working with the global team of analysts to build an effective and capable team that enables thorough and transparent coverage of a market that is key to the global industry.

    This role will be ideal for an early-career individual; you will likely have an economics, political economy, financial analysis or mining industry background with a keen interest in developing your understanding of the base metals markets, macro-economic demand drivers and the mining sector more broadly.

 

Essential Criteria:

We are looking for great people with the following attributes:

  • Undergraduate degree, ideally in a numerate discipline such as Economics, Engineering. A post-graduate qualification and/or specialised training will be an advantage.
  • The ability to research effectively from primary and secondary sources, then draw meaning from data and qualitative information.
  • Highly numerate. Ability to use a framework to critically analyse data and identify trends and key drivers.
  • Natural inclination to collaborate and work supportively in a diverse and international team
  • A clear and confident communicator.
  • The ability to build, maintain and grow an effective network. and understand and deliver client value.
  • Excellent attention to detail. Drive to ensure accurate and well-presented work with good writing skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, with the ability to construct and express well-reasoned, well-evidenced and logical arguments.

Additional Information:

CRU operates on a global basis so the jobholder must expect to communicate across offices and time zones.

Some international business travel, as well as local travel, will also be required.
