CRU experts examine how the entire steel value chain can decarbonise, including an analysis of technology and policy developments and challenges. The mix of blast furnace/BOF, EAF and other steelmaking production routes is critical to future emissions and steelmaking costs, and this is discussed in more detail. This includes CRU detailing its approach to emissions analysis and quantification at each stage of production. Questions on the means to reduce emissions at each stage are addressed, as are regional variations in the extent, pace of and potential for further progress in decarbonisation.
